This is a meeting of the Douglas County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. This group has taken responsibility for developing alternatives to incarceration and addressing the disproportionate numbers of minorities who are over-represented in the Douglas County Jail.
They have declined the use of outside experts with a track record on these goals as proposed by Justice Matters. We are monitoring their work. The Council will likely meet from 11 - noon at the Courthouse. A post-meeting discussion will take place at 12 at a nearby location to be announced.
